The State of Affairs | Esther Perel
“Love is messy; infidelity more so. But it is also a window, like no other, into the crevices of the human heart.” - Ester Perel, The State of Affairs
In this book, Ester Perel challenges most things we have thought about infidelity and affairs. In sharing stories of her work over decades with individuals and couples navigating affairs she redefines infidelity, explores the impact it has on individuals, couples, and families (including some potential positives), and outlines what we can learn from infidelity as it applies to healthy relationships.
This book is not intended as a road map for navigating the healing process of an affair, but rather serves as a means of normalizing the thoughts, emotions, and changes that can arise with infidelity and presents an honest and vulnerable exploration of our relational human experience.
BRAINSTORM | Daniel J. Siegel, M.D.
Daniel Siegel helps us understand what is actually happening in the adolescent brain so we can begin to improve our parent-child relationships. He takes us through the neurobiology of the brain in a helpful and easy way. For parents, this is a must-read as you navigate the hardships of raising a teenager into young adulthood.
ATLAS OF THE HEART | Brene Brown
We love Brene, and we are excited about her newest book. In Atlas of the Heart, Brene asks the million-dollar question: What exactly are emotions? Brene found that many people don't have the language to talk about and define what they are feeling. Each chapter is a journey of the different places we can go when experiencing specific situations.
This book reads like a textbook in the best kind of way. It finally answers questions about emotions that we haven't fully understood until now, even as therapists.
It Didn't Start With You | Mark Wolynn
If you want to explore the impact your family history can have on you, this is the book for you. Mark Wolynn dives deeper into how trauma is passed down from the last three generations. He explains how descendants of trauma survivors can experience physical and emotional symptoms of traumas they have not directly experienced. He provides tools to investigate your family history to get to the source of your inherited trauma.

We recommend getting a journal with this book and staying curious; it can be challenging to explore family trauma, so take this book at your own pace.
Attached. | Amir Levine
Do you jump into relationships quickly or notice yourself stepping away once someone is interested? Do you want to connect more authentically to your partner now?
Amir Levine teaches us about our different attachment styles and how they work (or don't work) together. This book also provides a great "Attachment Style Quiz" that can help you identify what attachment style you are and how this impacts you within your relationships.
