Couples Therapy

Relationships are like a dance and sometimes we can get stuck doing the same moves. Therapy can teach you to tune into your partner and learn some new steps.

FAQ's

When is the right time to start couples therapy?

According to Dr. John Gottman, couples often seek therapy six years after problems start occurring. We want to see couples when problems first arise in their relationship.

When is couples therapy most successful?

Couples therapy has a higher rate of success when both partners are willing to learn new skills and practice self-reflection and emotional vulnerability with eachother.

What are predictors of divorce?

Research has shown that "The Four Horsemen" (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling) predict early divorcing.

How many sessions does it take to make progress?

Every couple has unique needs, and treatment will vary depending on the specific issues, willingness to participate, and attendance.

Do we have to be married?

Absolutely not. Couples therapy is for all couples at any stage of life.

How much does it cost?

If you are in-network, your insurance may cover the cost depending on your plan and deductible. If you are out-of-network, standard Private Pay rates apply.

“When we feel generally secure, that is, we are comfortable with closeness and confident about depending on loved ones, we are better at seeking support - and better at giving it.”
